In it's simplest form, letterpress printing is a centuries old technique of applying ink to an image or text and pressing it onto paper. In the past this was done using metal or wood type, but today a lot of printers are using polymer. Polymer plates consist of a photo-sensitive material which changes when exposed to UV light. After the polymer has been exposed, all the material that was not touched by light is washed away leaving an etched image. Adhesive is added to the plate and it is placed on a base and locked into a chase on the press. Ink is rolled over the image and the press applies pressure to the paper, thus transferring the image to the paper.
We LOVE custom invitations! Custom invitations are the best way to personalize your invitations. Our process starts with a quick consult to talk about your vision and ensure that we are the right people to bring it to life. We will send you over a custom proposal, including the contract and invoice, to keep everything simple and cohesive. Once the contract is signed and the invoice is paid, we will add you to our design calendar. We love to start working on custom designs around 8-9 months before your wedding. We want to ensure that here is plenty of time to explore all the possible upgrade options. This also allows time for our artist to complete your custom artwork. As a custom client with Someday Press, you will enjoy unlimited rounds of revisions, ensure that we get your invitations just right. Once you sign off on the final proof, we head into production. This is when we order the plates, paper, embellishments and custom artwork so that we can begin the printing process. You will also need to finalize your guest list at this time. We are happy to help with the etiquette if you are needing assistance. For example, do you know how to address your mothers' first cousin, once removed, who is a Doctor, but also in a polyamorous relationship with a judge and a thrice divorced woman who has kept all her last names?. Doesn't matter...we will figure it out for you. And also, we would like to meet them. We print, assemble and mail all your invitations, you get to sit back and wait for all the reactions. We are also going to ship you two keepsake suites that can be used for photographs and to be treasured. We jazz these up with ALL the embellishments. This is also the time when we can discuss your day-of stationery needs.

What happens if there is an error in my invitations?
Ugh, that is our worst nightmare. We will be going through several rounds of proofing, so we are going to catch it! It's SO important to ensure that all your names, dates and times are correct before we go into production. We encourage you to ask your fiancee, your mother, your mailman and your barista to have a look as well and ensure there are no mistakes. We also require you to sign a Pre-Production Agreement to ensure every line has been checked and triple checked. But you are human, and so are we and everything is figure-out-able. If the error is on our end, we will absolutely provide a reprint. If the error is yours, or your fiancee's, we will discuss what options are available.
Can you accommodate rush orders?
Rush orders are on a case by case basis. Contact us to discuss your timeline.
Unfortunately, I can't answer that for you. Letterpress is a luxury print method, so it's not for everyone. Letterpress is slow and meticulous and very rarely does everything go right the first try. Interestingly, Maddie only seems to cooperate when I'm playing John Mayer. I know, it's weird. There are multiple, tiny adjustments are need to be made for every plate that goes on the press. It is time intensive and takes years to learn. Actually, it's one of those things that make you feel that you are always learning. The other costs associated with letterpress is the paper. Our house paper is 220# double thick cotton Lettra. We use this for both custom and semi-custom invitations. Again, no need to upgrade your paper selections, we are starting at the top. All that being said, it really does produce the most beautiful and luxurious stationery. You will never be disappointed with letterpress.
Let's keep this as simple as possible. Custom Invitations start at $2500 for 50 suites and our semi-custom start at $950 for 50 suites as well. If you're not sure which is right for you, hit the contact button and let's have a chat.
